CELPIP/ SPEAKING TEST: TASK 1: ANALYSIS OF A RESPONSE.

1- Practice 1-1

Depending on the topic you get, there are three three typical ways to organize your reponse to Take 1 questions.

As you can see, the introduction and conclusion are the same for all three types of topic.

Some Task 1 topics ask you to advise somebody about the better of two choices. In such cases, it is a good idea to organize your response like this:

Task 1:Giving Advice         Preparation  Time: 30 seconds Recording Time: 90 seconds

Introduction

Body of Speech

Conclusion

Task 1- Sample Response with Analysis

Read the prompt and the model response by a test expert. Then read the analysis of the response.

This will help you understand how to give effective, high -scoring responses to Task 1 questions.

Task 1: Giving Advice - Preparation Time: 30 Seconds  Recording Time : 90 Seconds

Introduction

Hi, Sarah. I understand your're giving an important presentation soon. I often give presentations, so perhaps I can give you some helpful suggestions.

First body

First I strongly recommend that you practice giving your talk several times before the day of your actual presentation. There are a  couple of reasons why I recommend this. First, practiing will help you deliver your presentation in a natural way, and this is good for your audience. In  addition it will give you confidence. Whenever I have to present a talk, I always feel much more confident when I have had a chance to practice it.

Second body

Second don't forget to smile and use gestures when you talk. Why? Well, as I'm sure you've heard before, smiling and using gestures can help other people better understand what you're saying. If  I were you, I would practice my talk in front of a mirror. This will not only help you recognize when to smile, but also when to use gestures and what kinds of gestures to use.

Conclusion

Anyway, good luck with your presentation. I'm sure you're  going to do a great job!
